The book invites us on a journey alongside the author, who years ago tried to escape from a world in which she could no longer find meaning. We follow her to the Netherlands, where she takes part in a series of powerful rituals and ceremonies led by indigenous shamans—experiences that lead her to a profound realization: the only place where real change can happen is within ourselves.

Each chapter brings a new revelation, guiding us toward deeper self-awareness. Every page unfolds a story of inner struggle, transformation, and victory. As we read, we recognize parts of ourselves in her journey—our own challenges, questions, and the answers we have been searching for.

A book filled with transformative insights, intuition, and truth—one that has the power to awaken our best self and give us the strength to walk the path we always knew was right for us, but never dared to follow.

Excerpt from the book

Shamans are people belonging to ancient tribes, still living in Northern Europe and South America. They use rituals said to liberate the spirit and reveal one’s true purpose. I had taken all the money I had—and it wasn’t much. Enough to live in the Netherlands for a week; after that, I would let fate guide me. I was fully prepared to live the rest of my life according to the ways of the shamans, if that was what I was meant to do. After all, there was nothing holding me back.

My whole life had been a negotiation about whether it was too early or too late to begin living the life I truly wanted. I hadn’t realized how much of my life I had spent waiting for the “right moment.” That moment was always somewhere in the future—never now. I had never understood that the only right moment is the present.

“If it were up to me, I would have preferred to start the rituals next week, after calming my restless heart, using travel fatigue as an excuse. I wanted a few days alone, to complain in peace. But Mary was determined that I begin during this auspicious week—and neither my exhaustion nor my discomfort seemed to affect her.

‘By observing, you learn better,’ Kahuna had said during our earlier conversation. ‘Observation places the responsibility of learning on you. Your responsibility to learn is different from the teacher’s responsibility to teach. When you observe, you become your own teacher. You choose what you want to learn and how to use that knowledge.’
